If you have a large amount of land that you have not put to good use, you might consider planting an orchard. If you have experimented with planting and maintenance of trees is one more reason why you would be perfect for the maintenance of an orchard. It may seem like an overwhelming thing to be undertaken, but it is really quite simple. All it takes is a commitment.
If you have never grown a tree on your property, you might not want to make the investment of time and money to buy lots of trees. If you are inexperienced, you may want to start with one or two trees so you can get an idea of the growing process. Once you have seen a tree along all courses successfully to adulthood, you are probably experienced enough to handle several trees. You should never plant so many trees that you will be overwhelmed, though. Only plant what you can handle.
In general, if you are getting started on a lot of trees, you want them to be all of the same type. If they all need the same amount of water and nutrients, you will not have to spend as much time catering to the individual types of tree. Another advantage is that you are going to become very familiar with the process of growth as trees. You will not be overwhelmed by having many different kinds, but rather that you will become a master of this kind.
If you already have a tree growing on your property that you have upgraded from his childhood, then you know that the soil is acceptable for this type of tree and those who resemble him. Since you have already been through the process of growing this type of tree before, you should have no problem testing all of the soil to ensure that it is similar to the segment already planted on you. Then, it’s just a matter of growing more trees and causing the process is the same as it was before. Since you have already dealt with similar problems in the past, you probably have a good idea of how to deal with all pests that might occur during growth.
Generally in an orchard, the trees are planted in a row, then cut to be fit in two dimensions. This is known as either a fan or an espalier form. It is a main branch in the center which is completely vertical, and then several branches which are on the sidelines. If the side branches are horizontal, he is known as espalier. If they are sloped, it is known as a fan. Typically, these 2 forms are used in orchards because of the way they are compact. Using those, you allow many more trees to be sure of the amount of space. However, if soil conservation is not a problem or if you are not trying to be effective, you should probably stick with the traditional form of trees.
To facilitate watering your trees, you need to install either a sprinkler system or an irrigation system. The sprinklers require more maintenance, but if you dig an irrigation canal, it is really easy to just run the faucet for a few minutes every day to reach all the trees. It’s just a matter of what you prefer.
Once your tree is starting to bring large amounts of fruit, you may consider launching a stand of fruit or the participation of farmers to market. Instead of letting go the fruits of waste or trying to eat them all (which may lead to a bad stomach ache), you can leave the rest of the world enjoy the fruits of your hard work. If you become a popular seller, you can even bring back a decent return on your investment. However, you can not count on a lot of money. Starting an orchard should not be a capital investment. You must create one if you have a passion for trees.
